Surfaplan "High Resistance planimetry"
Surface hardeners

T
he ready-to-use SURFAPLAN consists of various types of crushed aggregates selected for their complementary hardness, design and size thus forming a full grading range.
To facilitate the implementation, rise the performance and decrease the shrinkage of
SURFAPLAN, a high resistance concrete binds aggregates together, stimulated with adding of chemicals.
The result is a perfect homogeneous mix. By a strict precision and follow-up of manufacturing,
SURFAPLAN is constant in terms of quality and performances, as defined in the technical data.

M
ode of application

SURFAPLAN is mainly designed for the execution of incorporated screeds (fresh to fresh):

  • Erect the concrete –4 to –5 mm of the finished level
  •
  • Mix 2 sacks of 25 kg of SURFAPLAN with 6 to 6.5 litres of water
  •
  • Apply 14 to 15 kg per m² of the mix on the fresh concrete (thickness 5 à 6 mm)
  •
  • Apply 24 kg/m² for concrete -8 mm of the finished level if SURFAPLAN has to be sanded or bush hammered
  •
  • Roughcast and smooth
  •
  • Spray PULVERSTOP 80 gr/m² (dust-protection cure)

C
haracteristics

J
oints

SURFAPLAN is incorporated into a screed or concrete slab. These screeds or slabs will be divided by seals: contraction joints, expansion joints, insulating joints, construction joints. These joints must comply with the instructions of the DTU (Technical Institute for practice) or ITBTP (unified code for Building and Public Works) journal applicable to the selected solution. As written in the DTU 13.3 (chapter 5 page 13) : "As the cracking of reinforced concrete or not is linked to the kind of material, the aim of the document is to prevent the density and prorogation of cracks without pretending to avoid them".

C
olouring

SURFAPLAN is available in natural grey or colored in red, brown, green, ochre, soft grey, dark grey or black and also in off-white, pink beige, soft yellow or soft green lightened versions.
The colouring applied on the fresh concrete will depends on the concrete drying on which it is embedded. It is obviously impossible to obtain the final appearance before the complete drying and before a slippage of the surface due to its using.

The selection of a poured in place concrete might take in account these essential physical parameters.

It is impossible to evaluate the appearance of a surface before 6 weeks of drying or right after the removal of the protection.

Please note that prefabricated slabs are available for the SURFAPLAN (max. size 1.20 m x 1.20 m).
The slabs dry in our workshop and are delivered with a final appearance on the site. They are recommended for the small surfaces or if the term is less than 2 months between the pouring and the delivery on sites.

F
inishing

It is recommended to apply a protective resin or wax type SURFANET E (satin aspect) or SURFANET R (wet aspect) on dry SURFAPLAN (4 to 5 weeks after the pouring) when using the SURFAPLAN for decorative surfaces.

Apply the SURFANET R or E on interior or exterior surfaces as following:

  • Interior finishing: smoothed, soften sanded, smooth polished sanded or bright polished sanded
  •
  • Exterior finishing: floated, “skin sheep”, micro-bushhammered, roughly trimmed, bushhammered, alternated sandblasted / smoothed.
The final appearance of the SURFAPLAN entirely depends on the mechanical smoothing for the smoothed surfaces.
A smooth polished finishing (2 fine sanding runs) is recommended when the dimensions of the surfaces or the shortage of width (corridors) disturb the mechanical smoothing.
It is impossible to mechanically smooth the angles or the shell edges. Plinths and wall coating should be preferred. A high-grade appearance might also be reached with prefabricated slabs or a smooth polished finishing.

Before deciding the need of a smooth polished finishing (at least 3 days after drying), the project manager should estimate the manual work performed and choose whether the smooth polished finishing might be done or not.

S
upplementary treatment

As all our products, SURFAPLAN can be available in special formula with addition of synthetic fibers, silica or magnetic iron oxide.
Special formulas are recommanded for grouts "High Performance".

M
aintenance

Apply SURFAPLAN improves the performances and appearance of the concrete (flooring or screed) but it does not modify the type of media that might be exposed to the traffic and be maintained as each screed or a concrete according to the “Maintenance of DTU 13.3” (Technical Institute for practice).

M
aintenance and cleaning of surfaces

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
It is clearly impossible to precisely define the frequency and the cost for cleaning the surface treated with one or another of our products. The maintenance of surface mainly depends on the type and the heaviness of the traffic and stain.
However, whatever the surface is, some basic rules have to be pointed out...
