Surfasteel "High Resistance planimetry"
Surface hardeners

S
URFASTEEL is a ready to use product compound with crushed aggregates and glitters of ductile iron for their complementary hardness, design, dimension forming a full grading range. To facilitate the implementation, rise the performance and decrease the shrinkage, a high resistance concrete binds aggregates together, stimulated with adding of chemicals.
The result is a perfect homogeneous mix. By a strict precision and follow-up of manufacturing, SURFASTEEL is constant in terms of quality and performances, as defined in the technical data.

M
ode of application

SURFASTEEL is especially designed for the execution of incorporated screeds (fresh on fresh):

  • Apply the concrete –5 to –6 mm of the end level
  •
  • Mix with mixer 2 sacks 25 kgs of SURFASTEEL for 6 - 6.5 litres of water
  •
  • Apply 20 kg/m² of SURFASTEEL for a smoothed, xx surface of "sheep skin" finish
  •
  • For a ground or bush hammered surface, apply 30 kg/m² of SURFASTEEL
  •
  • Draw with the rule at the end level
  •
  • Float and smooth

C
haracteristics

  • Visible density: approx. 1.950
  •
  • Coating density: approx. 3.7
  •
  • Compressive strength on dice 5 cm d'arête: > 70 MPA
  •
  • Wear resistance (Taber test): loss < 1.80 gr after 1000 rotations
  •
  • MOTH hardeness: 5 to 8,4
  •
  • Fire regulation: MO (french regulation) – A2fl – s1 (european regulation)

P
ackaging

  • 25 kg sacks
  •
Preservation – Storage: 6 months in the original packaging, dry place

J
oints

SURFASTEEL is incorporated in a screed or concrete slab that will be cut by joints: contraction joint, expansion joint, isolation joint, construction joint. These joints must comply with the DTU regulation applied to the selected technique for the manufacturing of the concrete.
As written in the DTU 13.3 (chapter 5 page 13) :
"As the cracking of reinforced concrete or not is linked to the kind of material, the aim of the document is to prevent the density and prorogation of cracks without pretending to avoid them".

C
olouring

SURFASTEEL can be delivered in natural grey, red, brown, green, ochre, soft grey, dark grey or black or in bright colors: light white, pink beige, soft yellow or green. Colouring by the incorporation of a hardener applied on a fresh concrete involves colour variations due to the evaporation of water contained in the concrete.
A floor treated in this way will attain its final appearance only after some use. The uniformity and brightness of the final colour cannot be compared to those of a paint, resins additions or tiles.
The presence of ductile cast iron allows to obtain rusty aspect on sanded or bush hammered finishings. In this situation,
SURFANET has to be applied when the rusty appearance is obtained.
SURFANET E for a natural aspect
SURFANET R for a wet aspect

F
inishing

If SURFASTEEL can be applied on concrete (chape, dallage) outside or inside.

  • Interior finishing: smoothed, soft sanded, high gloss sanded
  •
  • Exterior finishing: "sheepskin", micro-hammered, sanded finish, hammered
Rusty aspect is necessary for the exterior floors, with a result of patinated and changing colours for SURFASTEEL that can be comparable with decorative rusted steels. What ever the appliance site or finishing mode is, apply 2 to 4 layers of SURFANET E or R following 2 layers for smoothed or sanded interiors on dry SURFASTEEL (3-4 weeks after the casting). 3 to 4 layers for bush hammered, soft sanded or micro-hammered exteriors.

M
aintenance

Apply SURFASTEEL improves performances of the concrete appearance (flooring or screed) but it does not modify the type of media that might be exposed to the traffic and be cleaned as each screed or a concrete according to the “Maintenance of DTU 13.3”.

M
aintenance and cleaning of surfaces

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
It is clearly impossible to precisely define the frequency and the cost for cleaning the surface treated with one or another of our products. The maintenance of surface mainly depends on the type and the heaviness of the traffic and stain.
However, whatever the surface is, some basic rules have to be pointed out...
